The Gilt market never took to electronic trading. Close relationships among dealers, GEMMs and voice brokers and established practices saw that. But recently the position has started to change. With a new breed of GEMMs and new buyers who have different expections from the tradintional prarticipants, MTS has launched an electronic interdealer market for Gilts and this time conditions are ripe for its survival.
